Sasha Mutala from the UBC Thunderbirds worked with Slapshot Alley this year to make some new technical videos that we will start using to help explain the technique of all the different types of shots in hockey.
Sasha Started Shooting at BASE
Sasha started his shooting instruction with BASE Hockey when he was 12 years old playing for Burnaby Winter Club. He trained regularly once a week during summers and came in frequently during the hockey seasons to warm-up his shot before games. He's now playing great hockey in the prime of his hockey career with the Thunderbirds. This month, Sasha was named the Canada West WHL Grad of the Month.

Super-Slow-Mo
Sasha came in to Slapshot Alley this summer to film his shooting technique with out new Super-Slow-Motion Video Camera. Sasha has a great shot and he scores about 2 points every game right now. Here is a playlist of his technical videos:
Video Feedback
The best way to show hockey players their strengths and weaknesses is through slow motion video comparing their techniques with professionals. Most young athletes are visual learners and often have difficulty learning with only verbal feedback. Shooting is so fast that it's very difficult to see where the puck is making contact on the stick, or if the blade is opening up, and how much the stick is flexing. Our new super-slow-motion camera shoots at 1000 frames per second so we can clearly show what the specific techniques look like.

Super-Slow-Motion Video Session
Our super-slow-motion camera is not available during regular lessons. If you would like a video session with this camera, please send us an email to set up a special session. Video processing time will take 1-2 days after your session.
